History
Champaign-Urbana Resistance Effort began in early 2025 as a group of friends worried about threats to our constitutional government and the rule of law. Never before had we feared we would not leave an American democracy for future generations. Instead of crawling under the covers, we chose to organize. Thus, CURE was born. Our first community-wide effort—the Rally for Democracy on March 29, 2025—drew hundreds of people willing to gather in a driving rain to support our democratic way of life. Heartened by this outcome and determined to resist any threat to our democracy, we invite everyone in our community to embrace this peaceful endeavor. This Facebook Group provides an arena for thoughtful commentary, advice on taking action, and general news about issues to address in the current political climate.
